GDC has been in the Bay Area since 1988 and our staff has attended nearly every one. During the 2009 show, Deep Silver wanted to throw a big, splashy party to showcase their slate of upcoming titles. We felt the venue’s food was too fancy, so we brought in Popeye’s Chicken & Biscuits, which was so popular that a ton of extra people showed up. We also got Gerard Williams, aka The Hip Hop Gamer, to perform.
